Active leak
right now?
Call us first, then follow the steps below while you wait. we’ll talk you through what to do and get to you as quickly as we genuinely can.

While you’re waiting for us
These steps won’t fix the roof, but they’ll limit the damage in the meantime.
1. Contain the water
Place a bucket or container under the drip. Move furniture, electronics and valuables out of the way.
2. Check for electrical risk
If water is near light fittings, sockets or wiring, switch off the electricity to that area at the consumer unit if you can do so safely.
3. Don’t go on the roof
Especially in the dark, in rain, or on a wet or visibly damaged roof. It’s not worth the risk — we’ll assess it safely when we arrive.
4. Take a few photos if it’s safe
Useful for us, and for any insurance claim — but only if you can do it without going outside in bad conditions or up a ladder.
Make-safe, then a proper fix
Assess the source
Where the water’s showing inside isn’t always where it’s getting in — we’ll trace the actual cause.
Make it safe
A temporary fix — tarping, emergency flashing, or a quick tile fix — to stop water ingress immediately.
Explain what’s needed
Clear, honest explanation of what’s wrong and what the proper repair involves — no scare tactics.
Quote before further work
If the make-safe isn’t the full fix, you’ll get a written quote before anything more is done.
Insurance documentation
Photos and a written description of the damage if you need to make a claim.
Follow-up repair booked in
If the permanent fix needs scheduling separately, it’ll be booked in promptly, not left open-ended.
What emergency callouts cost
Honest ranges — emergency work costs more than scheduled repairs because it means dropping other work to get to you fast.
Emergency tarping / make-safe
£100–£300 depending on the size of the affected area
Leak repair
£150–£500 depending on cause and access
Storm damage repair
£200–£1,000+ depending on severity
Response time
we’ll give you an honest estimate when you call rather than a number we can’t actually back up — usually same-day for genuine emergencies
Emergency callout FAQs
-
Will our home insurance cover this?
Most policies cover sudden storm or impact damage, but not general wear and tear. we’ll give you photos and a written description to support a claim either way.
-
Can you fix it in the rain or during a storm?
Safety comes first — in severe weather, a temporary make-safe is usually what’s possible, with the permanent repair done once conditions are safe.
-
Is there a callout fee?
we’ll always be upfront about cost before we leave for your property — ask when you call.
-
What actually counts as an emergency?
Active water ingress, storm damage, or anything that looks unsafe. If you’re not sure, call anyway — a quick conversation costs nothing.
Once things are stable, see roof repairs for the permanent fix, or re-roofing if the damage turns out to be more extensive.
